CAN Program GuideGet in the groove!
Learn the fundamentals of movement through music in group lessons of 10-12 participants.
Instructors will lead games and activities that focus on coordination, mind-muscle connection, creativity, flexibility, social interaction, and spatial awareness.
The program is offered in collaboration with the Arts Umbrella, DanceWest Studios, and Abbotsford Dance Center. Instruction is led by their instructors and supported by CAN staff and volunteers.

Support Provided
Participants receive a high level of support through group instruction delivered by trained staff and dedicated volunteers:

- Dance Instructor: Delivers curriculum and provides group instruction*
- CAN Support Workers: Adapts instruction to participants, as needed
- CAN Program Assistants & Volunteers: Additional program support
*Instructor provided by the collaborating organization (varies by location).
We strive to meet the needs of each participant through parent/caregiver collaboration.
Parents and caregivers can provide basic information about their child’s support needs and abilities through their CAN account.*
During the season, don’t hesitate to speak with coaches and on-site staff about support strategies that work for your child (e.g., visual schedules, first-then boards, token systems, social stories, etc).
*If you would like your child’s personal support worker to accompany them to the program, please email us at info@canucksautism.ca.
Our “Activity Storybooks” show participants what to expect at a CAN program!
Participants can read them before their first (or each) session to build predictability.
Download the Dance Activity Storybook to help prepare your child for the program.
