Live instruction in real-time!

Play games and learn new skills, while practicing listening, transitions, and taking turns – all while online!

Virtual programs take place over Zoom, giving participants an opportunity to engage with staff and participants from the comfort of their home!

Weekly activities vary from season-to-season. Past opportunities have included art, coding, app development, and science. Refer to the latest program guide or the registration system to see the most up-to-date opportunitites.

Participants must have a registered account, an autism diagnosis, and be of the correct age when the program starts.

Virtual Programs

Join us in our Beginner App Development workshops!

This program is delivered in collaboration with C.O.D.E. Initiative, whose staff will lead the instruction in real-time via Zoom.

Participants will learn to design, code, and test their own mobile apps, using a visual, easy-to-use, drag-and-drop app building platform called Thunkable.

Learn the fundamental of coding with Scratch, a  kid-friendly way to learn coding using colourful blocks instead of text.

This program is delivered in collaboration with C.O.D.E. Initiative, whose staff will lead the instruction in real-time via Zoom.

Participants will drag and snap blocks together on their computer to make characters (called “sprites”) move, talk, play sounds, or interact in games, animations, and stories.

Let’s get creative!

Virtual Art is delivered by CAN staff in real-time via Zoom.

Group activities vary from season-to-season, but can include drawing, colouring, painting, and more!

Curiosity awaits!

Virtual Science is delivered by CAN staff in real-time via Zoom.

Group activities vary from season-to-season, featuring games that spark imagination!

Supports Provided

Participants are supported online by trained staff:

  • Virtual Supervisor: Supports participants and parents/guardians in navigating Zoom, while providing overall program support.
  • Virtual Coach: Leads and demonstrates activities throughout the session.*

*Coding is delivered by instructors from C.O.D.E. Initiative.

We strive to meet the needs of each participant through parent/caregiver collaboration.

Parents and caregivers can provide basic information about their child’s support needs and abilities through their CAN account.

During the season, don’t hesitate to speak with coaches and on-site staff about support strategies that work for your child in the virtual context (e.g., visual schedules, first-then boards, token systems, social stories, etc).

Unlike typical, in-person programs, parents/guardians may need to be more directly involved to support with the digital environment.
