CAN Registration System
  • Interior BC, Lower Mainland, Vancouver Island
  • Preschool (Age 3-5), Swimmer (6-12), Youth & Adult (13+)
  • Fall, Winter, Spring
  • 30 mins (Ages 3-5 & 6-12) OR 45 mins (13+) weekly
  • $70 for 8 weeks
  • High ratio of support

Be safe & thrive in the water!

Learn basic swimming and water safety skills, under the Lifesaving Society Swim for Life program.

Each lesson consists of up to 5-6 participants with a high ratio of support.

Participants must have a registered account, an autism diagnosis, and be of the correct age when the program starts.

Swim Levels

Swim lessons focus on water safety, swim skills and fitness, while incorporating games and songs and fostering a fun environment!

Completed Swimmer 3* already?
The swim report card you received at CAN will allow you to advance to Swimmer 4 outside of our programs!

*Or Red Cross Swim Kids Level 3.

The Youth & Adult Swim program focuses on water safety, swim skills, and fitness. Skills have been adapted from the Lifesaving Society’s Adult Swimmer program.

Prerequisite:
For participants who are still developing water entries and exits, floats, glides, and front swim of 10 metres.

Completed the Livesaving Society Swimmer program already?*
We encourage you to access Lifesaving Society teens and young adult programs at your local pool or community centre!

*Or Red Cross Basic 1.

Support Provided

Participants receive individualized support from trained staff and dedicated volunteers:

  • Onsite Supervisor: Ensures the success of the program as a whole
  • Water Safety Instructor: Certified coach to deliver curriculum and provide group instruction
  • Support Workers: Individualize and adapt instruction to each participant
  • Program Assistants & Volunteers: Additional program support

Swim programs have a 1:1 ratio of staff and volunteers to participants to ensure safety in the water.
