Support Provided

We are committed to providing participants with high quality support from our staff and volunteers.

Day camps focus on group support and instruction to facilitate activities, social interaction, turn-taking, and transitions.

Note that this is different from our skate and swim programs offered in the fall, winter, and spring where 1:1 support is always provided for safety.

Day camps are led by an onsite supervisor and coach, while support workers, program assistances, and volunteers provide group support.

  • CAN Onsite Supervisor: Ensures the success of the program as a whole
  • CAN Coach: Delivers curriculum and provides group instruction*
  • CAN Support Workers: Individualize and adapt instruction to each participant
  • CAN Program Assistants & Volunteers: Additional program support

*For partnered camps, coaching instruction is provided by the collaborating group (ie. BC Tennis, UBC Geering Up, and Spectrum Skateboarding Society).

We strive to meet the needs of each participant through parent/caregiver collaboration.

Parents and caregivers can provide basic information about their child’s support needs and abilities through their CAN account.

During the season, don’t hesitate to speak with coaches and on-site staff about support strategies that work for your child (e.g., visual schedules, first-then boards, token systems, social stories, etc).
