The Social and Vocational Programs offered by the Canucks Autism Network serve adolescents, young adults and adults living with Autism Spectrum Disorder in British Columbia. These programs include:
The Sociables-for teens
The Sociables is a social group for teens aged 13-17 where friendship building skills are incorporated into activities such as bowling, social cooking classes, movie nights, etc. While adult staff and volunteers oversee the program, peer mentors interact with the participants and model positive friendship behaviours.
The Sociables-for young adults
The Sociables is a social group for young adults aged 18-26 where friendship building skills are incorporated into activities such as bowling, social cooking classes, movie nights, etc. While adult staff and volunteers oversee the program, peer mentors interact with the participants and model positive friendship behaviours.
The I CAN Go to Work program provides individualized support for young adults living with autism who are pursuing employment opportunities. CAN will work with the participants in an effort to train them for the social demands of the job—training that is not typically offered in organizations but is imperative to an ASD employee’s success.
Community Inclusion
Community Inclusion aims to assist young adults living with Autism Spectrum Disorder to meet the social demands of living actively in their communities.
