Join us on Friday, April 1st at the CBC Plaza as we celebrate World Autism Awareness Day and help us raise awareness and show support for those affected by autism throughout our province.
Activities will kick off with a rally from 7:30am-9:00am hosted by CBC’s Shane Foxman with a walk through the downtown core led by our Parade Marshal, Senator Larry Campbell. The walk will be followed by a number of guest speakers, including Vancouver’s Deputy Mayor Geoff Meggs who will be presenting the World Autism Awareness Day Proclamation on behalf of the City and newly appointed Minister of Children and Family Development, Honourable Mary McNeil, who will be presenting the proclamation on behalf of the Province of British Columbia. Attendees will be able to warm up with a hot cup of coffee or tea generously provided by JJ Bean and we’ll have plenty of delicious CAN Puzzle Piece cookies available for everyone!
Can’t make it to the morning rally? Join us between 11:30 and 1:30 for a BBQ and live performance by local music legend, Barney Bentall. Our favourite orca, the Canucks’ mascot Fin, will also be making a special appearance to take photos and sign autographs.
Please check out our Facebook page or contact our office for more event information. We hope to see you there!
